I have some form of chia most days for breakfast or dessert.
Chia seeds are high in omega-3 fatty acids, polyunsaturated fatty acids, dietary fiber, essential amino acids, vitamins, calcium and other important minerals [1]
Here's what I do...
Banana, Cocoa and Chia dessert recipe
Ingredients
2 tablespoons of chia seeds
1 cup of water
1 banana
1 tablespoon of cocoa powder
1 tablespoon of honey
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
Soak your chia seeds in water for at least an hour (I normally soak for 8 hours).
Mash the banana with a fork.
Add the banana to the chia seeds, along with 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
Ideally leave it an hour in the refrigerator for the flavors to combine, and enjoy!
I love to throw some chopped kiwifruit on top, as it's a good vitamin and antioxidant hit, is packed with fiber, and works perfectly with this dish.
Chia Dessert with Apple
The same as above, soak the chia sees for 1 – 8 hours, then grate some apple in, add a teaspoon of cinnamon, and hey presto, you have a healthy and delicious chia breakfast or dessert.
You can literally substitute any ingredients in this recipe. I’ve often make this with pear, blueberries, coconut milk, and nuts…
